ADCO is proud to have completed the design and construction of the new Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre to replace the old St Albans Leisure Centre, for Brimbank City Council in Melbourne’s west.
The $55 million contract saw the demolition of the existing St Albans Leisure Centre and the construction of the new Health and Wellbeing hub. Featuring a 50 metre, 10 lane Olympic-sized swimming pool with an adjustable swim wall, a learn-to-swim pool, a warm water recovery pool, aqua play area and 2 water slides, a 24-hour gym, a wellness centre, a community program room and meeting and function rooms.
The project features state-of-the-art mechanical ventilation systems, with fully electric heat pump technology – a first for this size and type of facility in Australia. The project is the first Aquatic Centre in Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Design rating and a 6 Star Green Star Design & As-built rating.
The project was awarded the 2024 National Australian Institute of Building – Professional Excellence in Building Awards – Sustainability over $2 million.
