NSW Brings Home Two State MBA Awards

On Friday night, we were delighted to win two awards at the 2020 NSW Master Builders Awards. ADCO took out the category ‘Public Schools over $30m’ for Curl Curl North Public School, with MBA commenting that “this project not only presents as a stunning architectural statement but, more importantly provides a functional and fun space for the children to interact.” We also claimed the ‘Retail Buildings over $40m’ award for our refurbishment of Roselands Shopping Centre, thanks to ADCO’s “meticulous programming and technical construction management of all the difficult and complex issues within a fully functioning shopping centre.” With the...

Indooroopilly Hall Project on Track for Early, Defect-Free Completion

We are nearing the end of our Indooroopilly SHS hall and tennis court project in Brisbane. Our second build for Indro, this new addition is the school’s multi-purpose hall which will be available in early 2021 for whole school assemblies and events, basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball. A 5m x 8m LED screen, electronic scoreboards, wall and ceiling-mounted cameras for capturing sports footage for analysis and a gym make up the features of this important addition to the school. ADCO Finalises Complex Shopping Centre Project

After nearly three years of construction, ADCO is pleased to have completed Sunnybank Market Square – a brand new, four-storey shopping centre 16km south of the Brisbane CBD. Purpose-built for the Sunnybank community, redevelopment now offers a new retail destination, an additional 28 mixed-use tenancies within the existing Centre and refurbishment of Building C to introduce two new banquet restaurants. The development also includes a multi-deck carpark with express access ramps, an upgrade of the entry lane off Mains Road to improve traffic circulation and reduced wait times for customers, and improved waste management facilities including a tenant-specific services lift....

NAIDOC Week: ADCO Observes Indigenous Australian History and Culture

Throughout NAIDOC Week, ADCO staff observed and celebrated the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our Queensland staff visited the Corrigan Collection at Bond Uni, Australia’s largest private Indigenous art collection. Beforehand, staff members toured Burleigh Headland and payed their respects to the Elders of the land. Our NSW team learned about native Australian bush food over lunch, and Smoking Ceremonies and acknowledgements of country were performed on sites across the state. We’ve Launched Our Reconciliation Action Plan

This NAIDOC Week, ADCO is incredibly excited to launch our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). We have given much thought to how we want to advance reconciliation internally and in the communities in which we work and live, and have initiated a RAP Working Group. This will sustain momentum, build awareness and allow us to investigate opportunities to improve and increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment. ADCO is embarking on a 31-storey build-to-rent development in South Brisbane. When complete, 13-17 Cordelia Street will offer 310 residential units and deliver residents a high-end lifestyle incorporating an outdoor gym, pool, barbeque and dining area, lounge area, an outdoor cinema and associated landscaping. The development will also refurbish and showcase a beautiful heritage-listed building, highlighting its architecture and incorporating it into the complete design, using it for commercial and retail use. ADCO Supports Research Into Women’s Cancer on Pink Ribbon Day

Pink Ribbon Day is an important date in the ADCO calendar. Each year, a large number of our staff come to work head-to-toe in pink and share an extravagant morning tea to raise money and awareness for the fight against women’s cancer. Yesterday our staff in Victoria and Queensland alone raised nearly $5000 for Pink Ribbon Day. According to the Cancer Council Australia, tragically each day in Australia 65 women are told they have breast or gynaecological cancer. Cancer Council's Pink Ribbon campaign aims to raise awareness about these cancers, as well as raise funds for prevention programs, support services...

ADCO Builds Sports and Recreation Centre for WA Community

ADCO has completed the Toodyay Sport and Recreation precinct for the Shire of Toodyay, 85km north east of Perth. The new complex includes a six-lane 25-metre lap pool, a leisure pool, eight new mixed-use sports courts, soccer and rugby facilities with new floodlighting, changerooms and external landscaping. A comprehensive community pavilion with catering facilities and function spaces overlooks the new complex and the picturesque Toodyay countryside. ADCO was pleased to work with project manager Limnios & Johns and architect Cameron Chisholm Nicol to bring this important regional sports and leisure project to life.

Prestigious MBA Award Won in QLD

Congratulations to our Brisbane team for bringing home a Master Builders Queensland award over the weekend! On Friday night we were delighted to take out the top spot in the ‘Health Facilities over $20 million’ category for Jacaranda Place Adolescent Extended Treatment Centre in Chermside, Brisbane. Completed earlier this year, the facility is now open for use. We were proud to be engaged by Queensland Health to design and construct the $26 million Adolescent Extended Treatment Facility (AETF) located at Prince Charles Hospital.
